As the doldrums of summer slowly come to an end, there are several exciting Android devices on the horizon. Google has 3 devices in the works, some of which have been majorly delayed. Two of those are reportedly 5G-compatible, and a U.S. carrier may have prematurely listed the Pixel 4a 5G.
Boom! Mobile is a lesser-known U.S. MVNO that runs off of Verizon and AT&T. The carrier has a page on its website dedicated to 5G coverage and compatible devices. On the list of compatible devices are several of the usual suspects, including the Galaxy S20, LG Velvet, Galaxy A71 5G, and Moto G 5G. The most interesting device on the list, however, is the “Google G025E,” and it could be the Pixel 4a 5G.
If that model number sounds familiar it’s because we’ve already seen similar model numbers for the Pixel 4a. G025J/G025N/G025M are known to be the model names for the Pixel 4a, per the FCC filing. Since this new model number is listed under 5G phones, it’s not a big leap to assume the “E” model is the Pixel 4a 5G (bramble).
The Pixel 4a 5G is set to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC, just like the Pixel 5. However, the 4a 5G will likely feature cheaper build materials and lower specifications to bring the price down. It’s a device that would certainly make sense on a MVNO like Boom! Mobile.
